The title refers to Roberta Cowell, who as Bob Cowell had been a married father-of-two, fighter pilot and racing driver, until in 1948 he left his family and began life as a woman, causing a sensation when he sold his story to the Picture Post in 1954.But just as intriguing is the tale of his ardent admirer, Michael Dillon, who helped Roberta with her sex change.
