As he buries himself in this relationship he starts to empower cardboard as a textile by developing it into beautiful constructs largely misunderstood in this world of mass communications. Enter the surrealism of Carl's mind as we see a dream destroyer maliciously tear his work apart and shatter his world, then meet Carl older and wiser, with an almost magical control over cardboard.
